I've learned a couple ground-breaking things while messing around in RED. You know that useless "Dynamic" checkbox in light properties? Get to know it, you'll be using it alot from now on. The reason this hasn't been found before is because dynamic lighting only effects players. Placing dynamic lighting in couple with your regular lighting will effect player's first and 3rd person models, just be sure to keep the other setting the same... to make it make sense.
Secondly, intensity properties. Negetive values make for darkness. This can make some amazing lighting when coupled with dynamic lighting.
I've attached a .rfl file to this tutorial in order to demonstrate my findings. I hope you all use this knowlage to your advantages by making amazing lighting for your maps.
